Ceres Terminals and Texas Stevedoring Services Delivered 300 pounds of dried goods to Loaves & Fishes
HOUSTON, TX (December 29, 2022): During the holiday season, many people struggle with food insecurities due to a lack of access to food. Ceres Terminals and Texas Stevedoring Services (TSS) join forces to deliver food to the community.
Loaves and Fishes is a soup kitchen operated by Magnificat House in Houston, Texas. The soup kitchen serves an estimated 240,000 hot meals annually to Houston’s homeless and less fortunate. All meals are prepared by their limited staff and volunteers. They rely on donations from area food banks and private industries.
Ceres and TSS sent volunteers to help lighten the workload and deliver meals to the public. The team delivered approximately 300 pounds of dried goods, such as rice and beans, as well as large cans of vegetables, packages of pasta, dried mashed potatoes, and broths. They also included such needed items as cleaning products, serving containers and plasticware – all necessary for daily operations.
“With the help from our team, we were able to deliver many meals to those in need,” said Chuck Rice, Director of Commercial Operations at Ceres Terminals. “It was a wonderful experience getting to see everyone involved in taking care of the community. Magnificat House is a very worthy cause and is doing so much each day to help Houston’s homeless population. We were grateful to join in this outreach opportunity.”
