EDI/TECHNOLOGY
Ceres has implemented an aggressive plan for the purchase of state-of-the-art hardware, software development, redefining IT processes and upgrading systems. A substantial investment has been made in time, staff and resources so that the dissemination of critical information can always be given to our customers in a timely and accurate manner.

Ceres has established a centralized service center in Nashville, Tennessee. This facility, the main hub for all Information Services activities, delivers information and applications to users at all Ceres locations. Utilizing these capabilities, users are able to track containers or cargo, pass information between Ceres locations or customers, and obtain general information on terminal operations.

Ceres terminal operations integrate the latest terminal management systems. We utilize image acquisition portals, weigh-in-motion scales, closed-circuit television for security and gate control, container/yard equipment positioning through Global Positioning Systems (GPS), and advanced crane control systems. We operate in compliance with the utilization of radiation detection devices for cargo entering terminals and are working closely with the U.S. Customs and the Department of Homeland Security to ensure a safe, secure working environment.

A SECURE ENVIRONMENT
Safety and security are given the highest priority in all Ceres operations. Ceres is totally involved in a continuous ISO 9001:2000 Certified Quality Management System, Safety Program and compliance with Federal, State, Provincial and local laws and regulations. Our Corporate Director of Compliance reinforces our safety commitment by regular visits to all Ceres’ operations and is an active participant in trade discussions on safety and security issues through its affiliation with the National Association of Waterfront Employees (NAWE), the National Maritime Safety Association (NMSA) and other national trade organizations.

Ceres supports the U.S. Department of Homeland Security as a certified C-TPAT participant. Our operations personnel work closely with U.S. Customs and Borders’ agents on a daily basis and assist U.S. agents in their efforts to screen cargo, vessels (container/cargo/cruise), passengers and crews according to set security measures and standards.

Ceres also has developed working Facility Security Plans and actively participates in Security Plans of U.S. Port Authority Agencies. We are an active participant in required drills and exercises that will keep us always prepared to properly respond to any security threat, incident or emergency/disaster.
